How To Fix Pinnacle Studio Render Errors

Pinnacle Studio is one of the premiere video editing software packages available. This article will discuss some of the more common errors experienced by pinnacle studio.

Some MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 Files Don’t work

Studio version 9.4 and higher can import MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG 4 and DivX files as well as other Video Codecs wrapped in AVI files. MPEG-4 requires the ISO MPEG-4 codec which can be downloaded Microsoft’s website. This means that DivX Codec (up to DivX 5.22), XVID Codec & ISO MPEG-4 Codec (3 flavors MPEG-4, MPEG-43 & MPEG-4s) are all supported for importing. However, if you want to edit DivX and Xvid files you must purchase the Pinnacle Advanced Codec Pack.
However only MPEG-4 files wrapped in the AVI format may be imported. For example, a file with an extension of .mp4 will not import into Studio even with the Advanced Codec Pack. In addition, Studio cannot import MPEG-2 files using the LPCM or AC-3 audio codecs.

Error installing Studio 9 - Component Transfer Error (Error: 0)

This problem is caused by having an incompatible version of install shield installed on your computer. You can fix this pinnacle studio error by locating the following folder - C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Professional.

Once you find the folder, rename the professional folder to something else such as old or delete the folder. Next install Studio and the error should no longer appear.

Pinnacle Studio Installation Discs not Recognized by Windows or Appear to be Blank.

This error is more common with Studio versions 10 and 11. The first thing to do is check that you put the disc in a DVD drive and not a CD drive. The installation and bonus discs are DVDs and not CDs.

If being in the wrong kind of drive is not the problem, check to see if you have Nero installed on your computer.  The application INCD which is part of the nero installation package causes errors. Directions for how to remove this file can be found at http://www.nero/eng/support.html. Once you have successfully removed INCD, just put the pinnacle studio installation disc back into the DVD drive and begin the installation.

Warning: Current Video Card Driver is Outdated

Studio provides this warning message if the current graphics card driver can not adequately support real-time video preview.  To fix pinnacle studio you will need to update your graphic driver to the latest version.

For all computers, please check your graphic card manufacturer’s download page on their website for the latest driver. Next, download the new driver and install it.

If no driver is available for your graphics card, you may not be able to run the pinnacle studio application unless you replace the video card with one that meets the minimum requirements for the application.

The Graphics and/or Sound System in your Computer have not been Certified for use with DirectX

Pinnacle recommends that users have the most current sound and graphics card drivers installed to minimize possible performance problems in Pinnacle Studio.  If you receive this message, you probably will also get a message that your graphics driver is out of date.

To fix this problem, download and install the most recent version of your graphics card driver. Do the same for your sound card. Install the new drivers.  If you have a pre-built system such as Dell, Gateway, etc. go to the manufacturer’s website and download all of your model’s hardware updates and follow the instructions to install them. If this does not solve the problem, you will need to replace the video and sound cards.

Connection to Windows Media Connect Fails

This is fairly common. First, make sure that the computer containing your music library is powered on and windows Media Connect is running. Next connect SoundBridge to your network and turn it on. It should appear as an authorized device.

Go to the control panel and launch windows Media Connect. Scroll down the list of devices in the wizard. If SoundBridge is not listed, click the Add button. Click on SoundBridge and then click Ok. It should show up on the list of authorized devices. If it does select Done. Finally, reboot SoundBridge by unplugging the power cord.
