The most common errors that occur in Outlook Express are usually corrupted registry entries, program conflicts, and mailbox setup or mail server problems. These problems can range from mildly annoying to a complete inability to send or receive any email.

The following are some common error messages that may occur when using Outlook Express:

Is in not uncommon to get a JIT (Just In Time Debugging) error after you restart on log off and then log back on to your windows operating system like the one pictured below.

The JIT debugger is a utility that Microsoft provides when a program that was developed using visual studio or visual basic encounters a fatal error. The Utility lets you look at the error code before the program terminates. As you can see in the picture above, the debugger is asking which program you want to use to view the error information.

Once Visual Studio is installed on a machine, the default process when an exception occurs is for the debugger to ask the user to either answer the dialogue box or tell it to ignore the exception.

How to Fix the Error

Delete the following registry keys by:

Clicking Start->Run and then typing regedit in the dialogue box and then clicking on OK as shown below.

On 32-bit systems, delete the following two registry keys:

That should fix the problem.

What if I just want to Disable the JIT Debugger?

Of course, there are times when you want to use the JIT debugger. So being able to enable or disable the JIT debugger may be a better solution. Follow these steps to turn off JIT debugging

In Internet Explorer, select Tools -> Options
On the Internet Options dialog, go to the Advanced tab
Select Disable Script Debugging (Internet Explorer)
Select Disable Script Debugging (Other) as shown below

Reboot the computer

You should not longer receive Just In Time Debugging Errors.

This problem can occur anytime your browser requests a connection to a specific web page. The connection request occurs either when you type a URL into the browser’s address window or when you click on a link on a web page that goes to a different website. The error is shown below.

Can this Error be caused by a Virus, Trojan or some other form of Malware?

While it is possible that a virus, Trojan or some other form of malware could cause this error, it isn’t very likely. Since this is basically a connection, addressing or routing problem, simple configuration or actual physical connectivity problems are much likely causes. However, scanning the computer will determine if there are viruses present.

There are several possible causes for this error such as:

The server may actually not be available

TCP/IP address configuration errors

DNS server error

Firewall blocking

How to Fix a 12029 Error

Let’s look at each of the possible causes individually since they each have a different solution.

The server may actually not be available

The web server may not be available because it is down or has exceed the maximum number of simultaneous connections or bandwidth that it is allowed to have because web hosting companies restrict both bandwidth usage and the number of connections to a specific website.

To test this, try to connect to another website using the same application or web browser that got the error message. If you can contact another web site, then the web server is unavailable. All you can do is wait a little and try to access the first web site again

TCP/IP Address Configuration Error

The first thing you need to do is check to see if you have an IP address.

Open a command window by selecting Start->Run and they type cmd in the box. A command window will open

At the prompt, type ipconfig /all. You should get results similar to what is shown below

Make sure you have addresses in the IP address, DHCP and DNS server slots. If you do than the problem is not being caused by a bad IP address.

If you do not, first type ipconfig /release and then ipconfig /renew to get a new address.

If you do not get an IP address and you are connected to a wireless router in your house, reboot the router by turning it off and then back on again.

If you do not get an address and you are connected directly to your ISP, reboot your modem by turning it off, waiting 30 seconds and then turning it back on again. If rebooting doesn’t solve the problem, call their help desk and report the problem. They will help you fix it

DNS server error

Domain Name Servers (DNS) have only one job and that is to translate a URL like Microsoft.com into an IP address so your computer can talk to the web server.

Open a command window by selecting Start->Run and they type cmd in the box. A command window will open

Type nslookup {domain you are trying to reach}. Examples of domain names are microsoft.com, utube.com, whitehouse.gov, etc.

The picture below shows the results when I typed nslookup support.microsoft.com

If you get an answer then the DNS server is working correctly

If you do not, then try looking up another website URL using the nslookup command

It that doesn’t work, first type ipconfig /release and then ipconfig /renew to get a new address and try both lookups again

If it still doesn’t work, call your ISP’s help desk and report the problem

Firewall blocking

Your windows firewall may be blocking the application you are using to connect to the web server.

Select Start->Control Panel and then click on the Windows Firewall icon

When the window opens click on the Exceptions tab as show below

If the program you are having problems with isn’t listed as an exception, add it which should fix the problem.

Recommendation

One of the fixes above should have solved the problem. If none of them worked, and you have an IP address and your DNS server is working, I suggest you do the following:

Run a complete virus and malware scan of your computer

Run a good registry cleaner to repair any corrupt or erroneous entries

Reboot the computer

Everything should work now.

ActiveX is a programming control framework that allows software developers and webmasters greater freedom on how they implement their applications. Its flexibility is what can also cause problems because it makes it easier for virus and other malware programmers to do more damage if they want to cause damage. One common way that this is accomplished is the use browser pop ups to secretly install malicious programs or spy-ware on your computer’s hard drive.

So, why don’t we just block all activeX stuff? That would certainly eliminate the problem but it would also reduce application functionality in all cases and may even cause some of them to not work at all. As a result Microsoft took the middle road in dealing with ActiveX controls. They allow you to select how much access you allow on your computer by providing several configuration options. You can allow full access; disable activeX controls and several possible combinations in between the two extremes.

How to Configure ActiveX Controls

Select Start->Control Panel as shown below

In the control panel select Internet Options as shown below. XP users will have to view the control panel in classic view. If you are in the Category view, switch to classic view

The window shown below will open

Select the Security tab and click on the Custom Level Button as shown below

Scroll down until you see the following items. The recommended settings are shown in the picture below. They are not all together and you will have to continue scrolling until you find each setting

When you are finished, click OK

Close the control panel. The new setting will take effect the next time you access the internet. If you are unable to access active features with these settings, your firewall or security application may be set to block active. You will have to enable it in the firewall or security application for everything to work.

There is always a trade off between security and the ability to take full advantage of the features and capabilities of the services offered on the internet. Microsoft does give you the ability to configure internet access so that it meets your needs.

Fix ProPlus.msi Error

MSI files are used by the windows installer to install or upgrade applications programs. Each MSI file contains all of the settings and configuration needed to install an application on your windows computer. Proxx.msi is an an installer file used by Microsoft office:

Microsoft Office Professional Edition 2003 uses pro11.msi

Microsoft Office XP Professional Edition uses pro.msi

Microsoft Office XP Professional Edition with Front Page uses proplus.msi

Office 2007 has changed the name of the installer to Office32MUI.msi orOffice64MUI.msi. Keep in mind that you can receive similar errors for office 2007. Only the name of the MIS file will be different.

Bottom Line, without these files windows cannot update your Office applications, install optional features or install patches. When you receive an error message stating that windows cannot find proplus.msi , office cannot be installed, repaired or updated.

An access violation has been called many different things over the evolution of the windows operating system such as:

Blue Screen of Death

General Protection Fault

Invalid Page Fault

Segmentation Error

Basically an access violation means that an application tried to use a portion of the Random Access Memory (RAM) that was being used by another process or one to which the process has no valid access. If two processes were able to access the memory location simultaneously, it would corrupt the data and possibly cause enough damage to require that you reinstall the operating system.

Occasionally a process will try to access memory reserved for the operating system which causes the process to crash. The picture below shows a typical access violation error message.

The error message above says that a process from the Mail Washer application was trying to read data at memory address 004039CC and memory address 00000026. An access violation can occur when a process is either reading or writing data. On the memory dump, it will be referred to as a STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION.

So as annoying as there errors are, they are actually a protective mechanism for both your operating system files and other data.

What Causes Two Process to Try and Write to the Same Memory Location?

There are several possible causes for getting this kind of error such as:

The error occurs because one process did not lock the memory location before accessing. Locking memory locations informs all other processes that they cannot use this location until it is unlocked for general use

If a running process triggers Data Execution Prevention (DEP) which is designed to use both hardware and software to minimize the threat of malicious code such as viruses being able to execute from memory locations tagged as data. These errors happen either because the programmer did not follow the DEP rules or it is an actual malware program

Follow these steps to fix access violation errors:

It can occur with almost any application. Your only choice is to click on OK and the application process will terminate and it will not work no matter how many times you try to start it.

What Causes the 0xc0000005 Error?

Typically the following problems can cause this error:

Incorrect or corrupted drivers

Corrupt registry entry

Malware or adware installations

Bad software updates (even windows security patches)

Bad RAM (Random Access Memory) Chips

How to Fix a 0xc000005 Error

Let’s look at each of these possible causes separately because they all require different procedures to solve the problem. As always, try one fix at a time and test the machine after each one to see if it solves the problem. If not, try the next one, etc.
